It depends on your foot traffic and maintenance program. In high-traffic commercial settings, a full strip and finish is typically needed once or twice a year. With regular scrub-and-recoat and burnishing in between, you can often extend that cycle and keep the floor looking great year-round without the cost of frequent full strips.
Not traditional wax -- and this is a common mistake that causes real damage. LVT and LVP require compatible, manufacturer-approved finishes that are specifically formulated for their wear layer. Applying the wrong product can cause haze, peeling, or permanent adhesion issues. ECS only uses products that are appropriate for your specific floor type.
A few common causes: the floor wasn't fully stripped before new finish was applied, the wrong product was used for the floor type, the finish was applied too thick or in too few coats, or the edges weren't properly detailed. ECS can assess your current floor condition and either correct the issue or start fresh with the right process.
For most commercial spaces, a strip and finish is completed overnight or over a weekend. The floor needs adequate dry time before foot traffic resumes -- typically a few hours after the final coat. ECS schedules all floor work around your hours so your operations aren't affected.
A full strip removes all existing finish down to the bare floor before rebuilding from scratch. A scrub-and-recoat lightly abrades the top layer of existing finish, removes surface contamination, and adds fresh finish coats on top -- it's faster, less disruptive, and less expensive. Scrub-and-recoat is a great maintenance tool between full strips, but it can't fix a floor that's already in p
